The performance "Frail Affinities" occurs in a very special environment of foreboding beauty conceived by Saint Genet Director Derrick Ryan Claude Mitchell in collaboration with installation artist Ben Zamora, and kinetic sculptor Casey Curran. Open to the public as a visual art exhibit, visitors are both participants and witnesses in an active environment where, with every step taken, even the floor beneath the feet is felt. An ethereal and imposing array of suspended fluorescent tubes paired with the slowly moving kinetic sculpture create a diaphanous reality that vacillates between physical experience and sculptural structure, forging a reality on the verge of thickening terror and euphoric collapse.
